MORE ABOUT OUR CHARACTERS

Character:
Mike Mercy

Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Language: English
Accent: Any
Paid Amount: TBD
Significance: Lead

Mike is the leading man who appears in every scene and is in 7 songs.  A former musician, he now works in an unfulfilling and resists making the jump to adulthood responsibility.  Influenced by his stoner friend to keep things the way the are, he manages to lose the best thing in his life.  The songs go from love to heartbreak to loneliness to over-the-top ecstatic.  He will have the audience wiping their eyes before it's through.

The actor will play alongside a 26 year old female, sharing in a couple of duets.  The opening number is on our website at bonjourthemusical.com, for reference.  We would for you to submit a short video of a past performance, or shoot a minute of you singing along to our recording and send us that!

Character:
"Burnt" Bobby

Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Language: English
Accent: Any
Paid Amount: $200
Significance: Supporting

"Burnt" Bobby, a stoner as the name would imply, is a dear friend to our star, but often a bad influence.  As much as he wants to see his friend happy, he selfishly also wants MIke's time to himself.  They are coworkers by day and party buddies by night, demonstrating a good friendship throughout.

This is a fun character who is good comic relief and also sings a couple of really good songs.  In Act I he gets to own the stage when singing I Want To Rock, which is the most energetic number of the show.  In the second Act will sing the show's most mellow and sad song, appropriately entitled Slow Song.  These 2 extremes in vocal performance will give the actor a true chance to show talent.

Character:
Chip "The Dick"

Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Language: English
Accent: Any
Paid Amount: $200
Significance: Supporting

Chip is loud and sometimes obnoxious acquaintance to the others in the play.  He had a bit of a rough childhood going up with a dad who was pro boxer, and never had any luck with the ladies, that is, until meeting our lovely barmaid Sonya.  He is part of a second lover story within our love story.

The role of Chip is the least demanding for singers.  Although he also has 2 solo numbers, the complexity and range is not that challenging.  In fact, one is in the style of a foot stomping barn burner, which is practically speaking the melody.  It is envisioned that this part is played by someone with a larger framed body.

Character:
Maxwell

Gender: Male
Age: MiddleAge
Language: English
Accent: Any
Paid Amount: TBD
Significance: Supporting

Max is the biggest fan to our hero Mike Mercy.  He is a 50 something year old neighbor to Mike, who genuinely wants to see his young friend happy and do well in life.  Because of his own failed marriage, Max has much wisdom to bestow, trying to help Mike keep his wonderful girlfriend Lindsey in his life.

Max is the show's sage, passing out little nuggets of emotional gold at every turn.  He also has the most emotional monologue of the show, when speaking about his ex-wife.  Singing 2 solo songs (plus ensembles), he gets to sing what the composer feels is the best song of show, When You Said Goodbye... much applause awaits!
